Planners Café: The Story of How Account Planning Began, told by John Griffiths

John Griffiths

Speaker: John Griffiths

John Griffiths will be the central guest of the APG Planners Café in Café De Monk on Wednesday May 3rd.
John will be talking about his book “98% Pure Potato”, exploring the roots of Strategic Planning based on interviews with the founding fathers of our discipline almost 50 years ago.
Central to his book was the question whether planning has failed (the ads are just as bad as they used to be) or has succeeded - you can find planners everywhere these days!  He will also explain why the book is called 98% Pure Potato.

The event is free of charge but since space is extremely limited, RVSP is essential.

But please, if you subscribe, make sure you show up or let us know 12h in advance, if you can’t make it after all, to avoid the €50 no show fee.

John Griffiths has worked as a planner inside agencies for half of his career and has run his own consultancy, Planning Above and Beyond, for the other half. Back in 2012, he got the idea of using his skills as a researcher to track down and interview the earliest account planners he could find. Then collaborating with Tracey Follows, Chief Strategy Officer of JWT and Chair of the London Account Planning Group, they wrote a book about the founding ideas of account planning, based on the testimony of the earliest planners and the creatives, clients and researchers who worked with them. A book like no other just in time for the 50th anniversary of the invention of the best job in the world.
