Petra De Roos reflects on her first three months at ACC, expressing excitement about the communication world's diverse disciplines, particularly the event sector. Attending Kristel Vanderlinden's presentation of the PIMs Trend Report, they are intrigued by the concept of "Collective Sparkle," seeing it as vital for successful events.
Hello, nice to meet you. I'm "the newbie." Although I'm sure my teenage kids would disagree with labelling me as "new," at ACC, I still feel that way after my first three months.
Of course, there are many aspects of the communication world that I know quite well, but there are also many disciplines that still hold secrets for me (I think). I find that exciting and fascinating. The event sector is one of them. As a partner & enthusiast, I've often witnessed and felt the magic and unforgettable memories that an event can create. The undeniable power of experience.
And I heard about it last Thursday too. Kristel Vanderlinden – founder of FutureKind - presented her - award-winning in the Netherlands - PIMs Trend Report for the first time in Belgium. And I was lucky enough to be one of the attendees. She presented 3 major trends and their counter-trend in her report called "The Clash of Being." And one of them is tailor-made for the event sector.
In a world where technology enables us to achieve success with "relative certainty" by reproducing an existing formula, there is a need for extreme wonderment. Being surprised, stimulating the senses, being blown away in an old-fashioned way: that's what we're looking for. In this trend of extreme wonderment, Kristel names something that I believe is the essence of a successful event: Collective Sparkle. Admit it, when you read it, you feel what it means. Again: Collective Sparkle. I would like to establish it as a new KPI to evaluate our events. "And how was last week's event? Absolutely brilliant: we had a Collective Sparkle of 9."
I'm already looking forward to the summer.
Sparkling regards,
Petra De Roos, managing director ACC aka "the newbie"
